They say it takes a village. Well in this case, it takes a pack. A pack of passionate 2-legged and 4-legged top dogs in their field that are using their special talents to help make the New Yorkie Runway Auditions and Doggie Fashion Show a dog gone success. And it’s all for a good cause.
Celeste Holm – We are delighted to have Oscar winner and Broadway legend Celeste Holm as the Honorary Chairperson for this year’s New Yorkie Runway Doggie Fashion Show. From winning an Oscar in 1947 for Gentleman’s Agreement, to leading actress on Broadway in Oklahoma and The King and I, to singing with Frank Sinatra in High Society . . . America’s love affair with nonagenerian Celeste Holm is as passionate as ever. And when it comes to helping pets, Celeste who walked the New Yorkie Runway last year with her rescue pup, Barker is “just a girl who can’t say ‘no.’” And we love her for that!
Ron Trotta – Meteorologist, Musician, Mathematician, Songwriter and the interpreter for Schmitty The Weather Dog. We’re never quite sure what Ron is doing at the moment because the moment is something in which he never seems to be. Seriously though, as an Executive Producer of the New Yorkie Runway Doggie Fashion Show, Ron is the force that, along with Elly McGuire, brings it all together. Schmitty The Weather Dog and Meteorologist Ron are also the official weather team for the prestigious Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show. Ron also works with ABC News, in New York City producing weather stories for on-air, non-meteorologist types to report. Ron is also one of the very few people on the planet who knows all the word to the Johnny Cash hit, “A Boy Named Sue.”
Elly McGuire – Just call her Ms Niche. After creating marketing programs as an executive for the NBA & NHL teams in DC and for kids & their parents at Radio Disney, Elly left the dog-eat-dog corporate world to work for her dog producing successful campaigns & events for companies targeting pet loving, money spending humans. Creator and protector of the New Yorkie® brand, Elly is also the founder and emcee of the New Yorkie Runway Doggie Fashion Show. Schmitty – For most pooches, chasing pigeons would be quite acceptable. Not for Schmitty the Weather Dog aka Schmitty The Real New Yorkie. Whether it’s been posing for greeting cards to give back to firefighters’ families after 9/11, being a guest on The Ellen Show after helping displaced anipals after Hurricane Katrina or pawcasting the weather as the official weather dog for Westmsinter Kennel Club Dog Show, Schmitty continues to inspire. Now Schmitty will once again be strutting down the New Yorkie Runway with partner, Meteorologist Ron Trotta to help raise money for Angel On A Leash. Schmitty’s fave pastime? Napping.
Nicole Milici – In her spare time, Nicole wins graphic design and marketing awards by developing brand identities, ad and direct mail campaigns, publications and product catalogs for a diverse clientele that includes Krispy Kreme Doughnuts Inc., Water For Cambodia and now New Yorkie Runway where Nicole has turned ideas into art. As CMO of Spada Media in Providence, RI, Nicole’s stellar organizational and time management skills allow her do all this and still answer her calling to raise two young daughters and twin sons. Jessica Cohen – Integrity, patience, and developing great relationships with her clients are just a few of the qualities that come to mind when describing Jessica Cohen, Executive Vice President at Prudential Douglas Elliman Real Estate. Charlotte Oien – From Bach to Bark! Charlotte has the pedigree to keep things moving behind the scenes at the big New Yorkie Runway Doggie Fashion Show. While raising her family in Eugene Oregon, Charlotte presided over the Marist High School Foundation and recently served two terms on the executive board of the prestigious Oregon Bach Festival. Bi-coastal, Charlotte splits her time between Eugene and the Big Apple where she lives with her dog Maggie Bell and acts as NYC liaison to the Oregon Bach Festival. As much as Charlotte considers herself a New Yorker, her two favorite words are “Go Ducks”
John Monteleone – Celebrity Animal Trainer John Monteleone’s list of credits runs the gamut from feature films to television to TV commercials to print shoots with the world’s most prestigious photographers. But ask John about it and he’ll tell you that the best part of his job is the animals he works with. Whether he’s building his house in Vermont or working with his Australian Shepherd, Ernie herding sheep in New Jersey, John is always happy to take time out to talk about the fine points of potty training your pup or the astrophysical implications of the Grand Unification Theory Of The Universe. Huh?
